| This is a 2003 Chevy 2500 Extended Cab Duramax 6.6 turbo diesel and Allison 1000 2-WD transmission package. This was a "light" rollover. The truck was been driven about 200 miles SINCE the rollover in West Virginia. The frame is relatively straight, and everything works. The only non-functioning thing is the clutch fan, which when delivered by truck from back east was just touching the slightly upward-shifted fan shroud, so it just slipped The truck did not overheat. It started and ran perfectly. Now completely morphed into a fresh truck, it shifts fine, the radio and AC work great, and the interior is perfect. The right rear door and glass are OK, as is the tailgate. Every other panel is bent and all other glass must be replaced. The doors all close and latch. The windshield is usable, but cracked. The front bumper is intact, but sitting in the bed right now. The rear bumper is only slightly bent at the right lower underside corner. The upper portion of the cab can be repaired or a new cab installed. It is a West Virginia salvage title. According the WV, it can be reinstated once repaired, in that state. The truck is presently in Van Nuys (Los Angeles) CA. The headlights and taillights are OK, the grille is perfect, and the radiator does not leak, nor does it leak any fluids. I was going to switch my 86 dually body onto this truck, but found that swap would be more complex than just fixing the truck with stock sheet metal as the wheelbase and body mounts are different. I have put put three bodies together to make this a new truck. This is a practically brand new truck (8100 miles)! I have had the frame straightened as well (twice), the body copletely smoothed and painted Penske yellow. It is now the work truck for me. It drives amazingly, get 15+ miles to the gallon, has MASSIVELY cold AC (I love that!), rides like a dream, is VERY intelligent in numerous functions.................in short, a delight. |
