Got a call yesterday from a fellow interested in buying the DM. He was concerned about the salvage title, saying he was certain insurance would NOT honor the market value of the truck. I told him I was nearly certain he was wrong as I have been paying for full comprehensive coverage, had the agent inspect the vehicle before buying that coverage, but would contact my insurance and verify their position.
Sure enough, I was right. FULL coverage, FULL value, FULL payoff for a total. Of course he did not call back.

Despite constant advertising, I did not get any more calls until last week. Two calls, two NO shows. Some time back, I had bought a new tailgate protector cover (almost $100), and cannot find it. So I got another one today, and a bezel for the tailgate latch. The bezels are fragile, and a good drop of the gate blows the plastic tabs off the bezel and allows me to spend another $30 for a new one. I’ve done this a few times.
I am going to wash it in the morning, detail it as possible, and hope someone actually comes to see it.
The truck just passed 50,000 miles, and also had 3 injectors go bad. This is not uncommon. As there is no warranty, it was expensive, actually $2000. All Chevrolet Duramax motors now have a lifetime guarantee on the injectors from Bosch. But not this one.

In an interesting and pleasant turn of events, I have gotten my FOURTH call from guys in the Northern California area regarding cars on Craig’s list, now three of whom have purchased cars. One, Rod Dahlgren, has purchased the yellow Duramax. He was to have flown down this morning to get it, but he is now coming Tuesday. I had him wire the full amount in to my account today, as I went negative last night. John and I spent yesterday detailing the truck again, and it looks great.
Rob is going to San Diego to pick up yet more cars.
So ends a long and fruitful chapter with this truck.

Rod’s brother has long ago come, taken the truck, done his car-gathering, and my truck is apparently on its way to Norway to have the engine and trans transplanted into another vehicle. So much for all the detailing, etc.
I would have wished these guys would have taken the Hemi, Regal, and Graham as well as they are killer deals for the Euro dollars to which they are pandering.
